The Making

Behind
the Craft

Raw pseudostem to handwoven mat — the real process, the real hands, the real fibre.

“Banana yarn isn’t about perfection. It’s about character. We accept the nature of the fibre as it is — and make it into something the world can use.”

The Mat, Being Made

Two videos. Two photographs. An unfiltered look at the hands and the looms behind every mat we produce.

Loom to Mat —
Start to Finish

Watch as banana fibre strands are hand-fed onto traditional looms. Each pass of the shuttle interlocks the outer-layer fibre — the crisper, more structured grade that provides the mat’s natural grip and body. No synthetic coatings. No adhesives. Just fibre on fibre.

The Weave in Progress

The interlocked fibre pattern forms row by row — creating the mat’s non-slip, breathable surface without any coating.
